Cargo Straps
Cargo straps, also referred to as tie-downs, are fasteners that are tensioned to hold down cargo or equipment and help keep it secured during transport. If left unsecured, cargo can shift or come loose during transport causing severe accidents. It has been estimated that up to 25% of accidents involving trucks can be attributed to improperly secured cargo.
Typically made of a webbed polyester fabric, cargo straps come in different lengths, strengths and hardware to fit your cargo securing needs. There are also a variety of strap types that function differently to work best with your type of vehicle and cargo.
Ratchet Straps
Ratchet straps get their name for their method of locking and securing the strap via a ratcheting system. They are ideal for heavy loads since they can have a 15,000-pound break strength rating.
Lashing Straps
Lashing straps use a gator clip to lock and are typically the lightest-duty tie-down. Small loads are ideal for these straps since they only have a 220-pound break strength rating.
Cam Buckle Straps
Cam Buckle straps are the middle-of-the-road option. They are designed for use with medium-sized loads and have a 1,500-pound breaking strength rating. Cam buckle straps are easier to tighten and release than ratchet straps making them ideal for securing things like ATVs, jet skis and other medium-sized loads.
